This is what I look like at the tail end of three super stressful days of little to no sleep and a five hour drive still ahead of me.
It was ultimately worth it I guess, though I’m bummed I didn’t get to see or do virtually anything I wanted to. I apologize to any Vancouverites I flaked out on, I’ll try to come back soon.
Also, the Washington State Capitol… ...
T-Mobile Hotspots is awesome
I used it three times yesterday; once while at Kinko’s printing out some rebate forms, once at Starbucks while I had an hour to kill before a movie, and once at Borders while waiting for the MAX to go home.
I think it’s great T-Mobile is giving this service away now instead of charging $20 like they used to. There are 33 Starbucks within a two mile radius of where I live, so I see...
Why did I switch my iPhone to T-Mobile?
I finally unlocked my iPhone last night and switched back to T-Mobile. Here’s a comparison of the plans I was under from both carriers:
AT&T
450 minutes for $40
MediaMax Unlimited $20
1500 text messages $10
T-Mobile
1000 minutes for $40
T-Mobile Total Internet $20 (includes free Hotspots Wi-Fi access)
400 text messages $5
A few notes:

Join hotspots without logging in first!
Here in Portland a company called MetroFi is setting up municipal wifi coverage over the entire city. How well it’s working thus far is beyond the scope of this post, but let’s just say, there a lots of hotspots that give you free internet access in this town provided you log in first.
And there’s the rub. Here’s the average scenario: I’m out and about downtown,...

Real Men Love Dark City →
Today, we celebrate the often overlooked sci-fi noir epic that grossed about 14 million dollars domestically, while the extremely similar The Matrix managed over 171 million a year later. Hey, nothing against Neo and gang, but Real Men like to go against the grain a little bit. Real Men like to dig for the underrated masterpiece.

Woz recreates "awesome" commercial for charity... →
Woz, always ready to entertain for charity’s sake, has remade his old 280Z commercial (“It’s awesome,” if you didn’t remember from the last time you watched it) to promote the charity sale of his Nissan 350Z. Unfortunately, rather than split-screening it, the old commercial fades up for the “awesome” line, so we don’t actually get to see 2009…

"Dick in a Box" Wins Emmy →
Though his ex-gal pal is probably less than a week away from an Elvis-inspired suicide on a toilet bowl, JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE wins again with an Emmy award… for “Dick in a Box”?? At first, I couldn’t believe it either—but on the one hand, it’s JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE, and on the other, “Dick in a Box” was one of the funniest SNL skits ever. Once again, here is the...

Dear Steve Jobs (Robert Scoble/Scobleizer) →
Dear Steve Jobs — Dave Winer wants a T-shirt. — Me, I’d like to let you keep the $100 per iPhone you so generously are going to give me and other early adopters who bought the iPhone. — Here’s what I’d like for my $300. — I’d like an iPhone where software developers can go to town and play.

Digg this if you're tired of IE costing you money!... →
i’m tired of losing time and money hacking my 100% standard code to work in a half-assed browser. digg this if you want to help get a massive shift away from IE compliance and if you won’t tolerate their lack of standards anymore, IE 5, 6 AND 7 are to blame.
