I live about five blocks from a McDonald’s, and in the 15 or so months that I’ve been living here I’ve managed to avoid it. In fact, I’ve managed to avoid eating at McD’s for close to a decade and never really liked it, um, ever.
However, tonight around 3 am I was craving sweet sugary goodness and didn’t feel like walking or paying egregious prices for food at any of the 24 hour establishments I normally frequent.
So it is that I walked the few blocks to McD’s, expecting for it to be like the Taco Bell next to it, open 24 hours only via drive thru, alienating car-less customers like myself. To my surprise though they had a walk-in window, and I was able to order a sundae, small order of fries, and two apple pies for $3 total.
Cheap, not entirely horrible, and friendly to car-less consumers. So I find myself thanking this place now, something I never thought I’d actually do. Why is it so difficult for other fast food establishments to do the same?
